"Where do we start... Gail and Steve, the owners, couldn't be more welcoming, helpful and friendly- they made our stay in Windermere that little bit more special. We are already planning our return and we only checked out this morning! Gorgeous room, delicious breakfast, great location- just brilliant."

We stayed here for one night on 28th Oct. and it was so clean and tidy. Each things in room were very very clean. It was far far more better then any Five Star Hotel. Breakfast was fantastic.

Gail and steve were very hospitable and were very kind. They were treating us like family and they helped us with the directions also for Rydal Mount.

I have been to various places but did not see so much of cleanliness.

"This a lovely hotel in an ideal location. Gail and Steve the owners were both lovely, they kept the hotel spotless and made a lovely breakfast, anything we asked about the area Steve could answer and point us in the right direction. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return. 1st class experience :-)"

"Gail and Steve are a very friendly and hospitable couple who make you feel welcome to stay in their home. After a long drive from Kent we were delighted to find a nice room with patio doors into the garden. We had lots of advice about where to go and what to see which was very helpful and the weather was a bonus as it stayed mostly dry and bright during our stay at the end of June. Breakfast was a real feast and nicely prepared and presented. A real delight in such a beautiful part of England.

Thank you Gail & Steve and hope to stay again one day when we come up north.

Stayed June 2014, travelled as a couple"

"My partner and myself stayed at the Meadfoot guest house for 2 nights on the 17/18th October for a birthday treat arranged by my partner for myself, Gail met us at the door and showed us to room No 4. Gail was very friendly and bubbly, the room was beautiful and had a lovely view of the garden. The breakfasts on both mornings were excellent and with lots of choice cereals juice yoghurt and fruit at the self service buffet breakfast bar. The full English breakfast cooked to order and served by Steve, who also treated us to a history lesson about the area around Windermere and Bowness. Gail found out it was my birthday on Saturday from my partner and on Saturday morning there was a Birthday card on our table, a thoughtful little touch. Whilst we were there we were able to use the spa facilities at the nearby Parklands Country Club which is included in the price, which included a steam room and sauna, which was very welcome due to some torrential rain on Saturday morning

Meadfoot is a short walk to the centre of Windermere and there are a couple of pubs and a great little chippy funnily enough called "Little Chippy " which served nice fish and chips but being in Windermere isn't cheap .

Gail and Steve were both really helpful Steve gave us a lot of information about Bowness and Gail was helpful when we were looking for somewhere to eat on my birthday, And she suggested Mojos Bistro which turned out to be a lovely evening,

Many thanks to you both for a brilliant couple of nights stay and we will definitely be back"

"Stayed with my wife for 2 nights on the 23/24 September, Gail met us at the door and showed us to the Garden room 5, Gail was very friendly, the room was immaculate, and with a beautiful view over the garden. We had excellent breakfasts on both mornings with lots of choice, cooked by Gail and served by Steve, who is also really friendly and chatty. Gail found out it was my birthday on the Thursday from my wife, and I found a Birthday card on my place at our breakfast table, these thoughtful little touches seperate Meadfoot from other Guest houses.

Meadfoot is ideally placed for walking to Windemere village or a longer walk to Bowness.

I would thoroughly recommend Meadfoot for anyone looking for a high quality guest house in the Lakes.

We cannot fault Gail and Steve at all, both really helpful, and so warm and welcoming.

Many thanks for a brilliant stay and we will definitely be back."
